Clare Vivier has already mastered the art of designing clutches and tote bags, so now the designer is expanding her accessories empire with the launch of an eyewear collection with her friend and stockist Steven Alan.
"I've never done sunglasses before, but I'm really interested in getting into more accessories categories, so I was thrilled when Steven asked me," Vivier told Style.com.
"I think his aesthetic works really well with ours. The sunglasses are a true reflection of both brands."
Each pair of glasses, which will retail for $195, is named after a French town that Vivier goes to during her summer vacation. Some styles include the Calais, which is a square, wayfarer shape; the Cap Ferrat, which has a retro oval shape; the Nice, an oversized round frame; and the St. Gilles, a unique version of aviators.
"We did some red and blue, which is a classic combination for me, and there are some pink and purple ones, too. We actually call the Nice style 'the Lizzie' around the office. Our graphic designer, Lizzie, had this great pair of big, round vintage sunglasses we wanted to recreate. As vintage collectors, we all drew inspiration from our own pieces," Vivier told Style.com.
The glasses in this collection might be fun and funky, but we can also see them appealing to a wide range of shoppers.
"I think what's great about our collection is that any girl can wear them. They're really timeless, and I think they're a refreshing option for everyday, casual wear," Vivier said.
