Just hours after the largest mass shooting in U.S. history took place, the 70th Tony Awards were held on June 12, 2016 at the Beacon Theatre in New York amidst tight security.

Nominees and presenters wore silver ribbons in honor of Orlando. Veteran Broadway costume designer and six-time Tony winner William Ivey Long designed the ribbons.
British talk show host, James Corden, was host.
Bebe Neuwirth and the cast of 'Chicago' performed.
"Hamilton" was the night's big winner picking up 11 awards, including best musical, while "The Humans," "Arthur Miller's A View From the Bridge," and "The Color Purple" took home top awards in other categories.
