Westfield World Trade Center finally opened earlier this week, and later this month, Lacoste plans to stage a special exhibition in the mall's Oculus event space, WWD reported.

Lacoste, which has a 3,400-square-foot store at Westfield, will be the first brand to host an event in the Oculus.

"L Comme Légende, L Comme Lacoste," which will run from Aug. 25 to Sept. 5, will honor Lacoste's heritage and highlight milestones in the label's history. The exhibit will feature clothing, including vintage tennis apparel, photographs, documents and objects like Lacoste founder René Lacoste's tennis trophies, a one-of-a-kind polo created in collaboration with Brazilian design duo the Campana brothers and creative interpretations of the Lacoste crocodile logo.

"Lacoste has a rich sporting history that is very relevant and timely given the growing influence of sports and athleisure in the fashion industry," Joëlle Grünberg, president and CEO of Lacoste North America, told WWD.

Westfield, the highly anticipated, 365,000-square-foot multi-level shopping center in downtown Manhattan, officially opened to the public at noon on Tuesday. It features about 100 global and local brands in the fashion, beauty, lifestyle and technology space. Unlike the nearby, luxury-focused Brookfield Place, Westfield takes a more high-low approach to its product offering, with stores ranging from fast-fashion favorites like H&M and Forever 21 to contemporary and higher-end labels like John Varvatos and Stuart Weitzman.

"The World Trade Center is a symbol of hope, opportunity, progress, and perseverance. Westfield is profoundly proud to be a part of this project and to introduce new experiences and energy to Lower Manhattan. We are incredibly excited to open our doors to our neighbors, New York and tri-state area families, visitors and all of our partners on August 16," William Hecht, Westfield's chief operating officer in the U.S., said in a press release.

Other brands with stores in Westfield include, Apple, Kate Spade, Boss Hugo Boss, LK Bennett, Lacoste, Sephora, Dior Cosmetics, MAC, Kiehl's, Cole Haan, Links of London, London Jewelers and Vince Camuto to name just a few (For a full list of stores, click here).
