Back in April, Burberry announced that actress Lily James is the new face of its My Burberry fragrances. And earlier this week, the British brand unveiled its first global advertising campaign starring the actress.
The campaign, shot by Mario Testino under the creative direction of Christopher Bailey, is for My Burberry Black, a new perfume for women inspired by Burberry's black Heritage trench coat.
"I am thrilled to be officially joining the Burberry family. I am so proud to be British, so it really means a lot. Shooting my first campaign was so special — I don't want to give away too much, but I had a lot of fun showing a different side of myself," James said in a statement when the announcement was first made.
To celebrate the launch of the fragrance and the campaign, James took over Burberry's Snapchat account, and the brand also created a My Burberry Black lens on the social media platform.
"I'm so delighted to have worked with the very lovely and clever Lily James on our new My Burberry campaign. I have admired her work for quite some time and was bowled over by her wonderful charm and her warmth when we met so it was a treat to have had the opportunity to collaborate on this shoot together," Bailey said in a statement when James was first named the new face of the My Burberry fragrances.
As for the fragrance, created by Bailey in collaboration with perfumer Francis Kurkdjian, it "bottles the sensual elements of a black Burberry trench coat against bare skin," according to a press release. The fragrance blends the scent of sun-drenched jasmine flower and peach nectar with a touch of rose.
