INC International Concepts tapped style icon Iris Apfel to curate its fall/winter 2016 collection, which was debuted Tuesday at Apfel's 95th birthday luncheon at La Sirena in New York City.
The curated collection, which consists of must-have clothing and jewelry that represent fall's mod trend, is titled Iris Meets INC and is available at Macy's, INC's exclusive retailer, and online at Macys.com.
"Iris is a perfect partner for INC. Not only does her style resonate with multiple generations of INC shoppers, but there isn't a more iconic personality to show off the new 'mod' style for fall," Nancy Slavin, senior vice president, marketing, of Macy's Merchandising Group, said in a statement.
The collection, which includes about 40 pieces, focuses on wardrobe staples like shift dresses, statement jackets, wide-leg pants and A-line skirts. Mod-inspired florals and bold color blocking give the collection a modern retro feel. Items range in price from $24.50 to $199.50.
"Macy's was my very first department store and we used to always go there on shopping trips," said Apfel. "I've always thought very kindly of Macy's and I never planned on any of this. How many 94-year-old cover girls do you know?" Apfel said in a statement.
In addition to curating the Iris Meets INC collection, Apfel also stars in an accompanying advertising campaign, which was shot by Ben Watts.
Back in May, Apfel was honored at the American Apparel & Footwear Association's 2016 American Image Awards along with Shinola, Christian Siriano, BBC International LLC and Joseph Abboud. Apfel was named this year's Fashion Maverick, while footwear giant BBC International LLC was named Company of the Year, Shinola Detroit earned the Retailer of the Year title, Christian Siriano was crowned Designer of the Year and Joseph Abboud was named Person of the Year.
