Lupita Nyong'o is making headlines left and right lately.
The Oscar-nominated "12 Years a Slave" actress appeared in the March issue of Essence magazine and completely blew us away with some bold beauty looks.
The 30-year-old red carpet star rocked some colorful spring makeup in the shoot, which was photographed by Philippe Salomon and styled by Nick Nelson. Nyong'o, who dazzled in Vera Wang and Katrin Schnabl, sported jewelry by Alexandra Mor.
In some close-up shots, the actress flawlessly rocked jewel-toned eyeshadow and coral lipstick as well.
In addition to starring in these breathtaking images, Nyong'o has also been making waves recently on various red carpets this award season. She's also been busy sitting front row at several fashion week shows and covering New York Magazine's spring fashion issue.
Nyong'o opened up to the Daily Beast and revealed her style inspirations and red carpet fashion.
"Until all this, I hadn't been a student of the fashion industry as a formal industry," Nyong'o told the publication.
"I wasn't the girl who bought the fashion magazines, I'd always just worn what appeals to me. I know that even if I don't buy the magazines and stuff, with fashion and style, you pick up influences all the time-if your eyes are open, you're being influenced by fashion and style, whether you like it or not."
So how did Nyong'o get to be such a style star?
"I've admired from afar people like Elizabeth Taylor, Iman, and Cate Blanchett," she said.
"When I knew I was going to be doing the press tour for '12 Years A Slave,' I got to work and started researching what was happening in the formal world of fashion to try and articulate to myself what my style would be in it all. It's been a great education - a great discovery - to find clothing artists who are doing things that I feel express something about myself. And there are so many."
