Pastels are typically colors that are associated with spring, but now that New York, London, Milan and Paris Fashion Week are done with and we've had time to review the countless shows and analyze the collections shown, it has become clear that these light colors are also going to be popular for fall this year.
A slew of top designers and labels, including Miu Miu, Gucci, Sonia Rykiel, Nina Ricci, Giambattista Valli, Just Cavalli and more all splashed some of the clothing in their fall offerings with pretty pastels. Sky blue, lavender, melon, rose and other Eastery colors added much-needed pops of brightness into these fall collections, which can tend to be a bit more on the dark and somber side.
In Paris, we saw pastels that were even paler than usual at the shows of Miu Miu (the pastel nylon jackets are a must-have!), Sonia Rykiel, Nina Ricci and Giambattista Valli. These colors were either incorporated into head-to-toe looks or juxtaposed with winter florals.
In Milan, we saw these subtle shades on statement-making outerwear and sweet 1960s-inspired dresses presented by Gucci, Just Cavalli and more. We especially loved Gucci's crystal rose shearling jacket.
Since pastels are also on trend for this spring (no surprise there!), you can easily translate from season to season with this trend.
What do you think of this fall 2014 trend? Do pastels only work for spring or can they also be worn during the fall? Share your thoughts with us in the comment section below.
