Following in the footsteps of such names as Audrey Tautou, Marilyn Monroe and Nicole Kidman, Gisele Bündchen is the next face of Chanel No.5 where the ad campaign has been reported to have been taking place in Sagaponack, N.Y., in the Hamptons with New York City up next.
WWD is reporting the ad campaign is being directed by Baz Luhrmann who also was the director responsible for Kidman's 2004 campaign.
Chanel commented on the choice of Bündchen to WWD, "She was chosen for her natural beauty and modern femininity."
We are thinking Bündchen was a great choice for this campaign.
Speaking of Chanel No.5, the fragrance certainly has had its fair share of iconic moments.
Remember hearing Monroe cooing what she wears to bed?
"I only wear Chanel No.5."
There was also Brad Pitt's campaign for the iconic fragrance in 2012 that even launched parodies. In a way, one can look at it as simply generating a lot of buzz for the fragrance. We'll set aside the parodies and let Pitt do the talking.
Of course, we can't help but think about what Coco Chanel had envisioned for her fragrance when it all began in 1921.
Chanel simply wanted "a woman's fragrance that smells like a woman," as the Telegraph pointed out.
As for Tautou, she is known as one of the faces of Chanel No.5, but of course, she also played Chanel in Coco Before Chanel.
Although, be sure to check out Tautou's time as the face of Chanel No.5 in the film Train de Nuit below.
Now, back to Bündchen. How will she leave her mark on the fragrance? Although we don't know many other details at the moment, we do know that this is one ad campaign we are certainly keeping an eye on.
