Back in December, the Pantone Color Institute proclaimed Mocha Mousse this year's Color of the Year. After the announcement, everyone was sure that there would be an onslaught of milk chocolate-hued clothing, furniture, etc. Pinterest respectively disagrees, however. Pinterest predicts dill green will steal Mocha Mousse's thunder at least during the summer months.
Pinterest came to this conclusion by tracking searches for the "earthy, vintage-inspired hue." It's definitely peaking when it comes to fashion. The term dill is applicable since all things pickle are also proving popular. Think pickle margaritas. Now that doesn't mean super dark greens reign supreme. After all, pickles sometimes have yellow undertones like watermelons. So there is a slight spectrum, which really opens up the shopping opportunities.
There's a nice mix of designer and more affordable selections. Victoria Beckham's gathered dress may be labeled algae, but it really leans dill. As does SIMKHAI's jacquard mini number. Patterned pieces are easy ways to indulge in the trend, such as Etro's ramie shorts and La DoubleJ's Estelle Blouse. PH5's Aster Reversible Asymmetric Wavy Dress has an ombré appearance that produces the same effect.
Penny-pinching go-tos Mango, Banana Republic and & Other Stories are already all over the craze. Then there are MIKOH's striped shorts that only cost $66. Another somewhat cost-friendly way to dip your toe into the phenomenon is via swimsuits. Devon Windsor's dill bikini top and matching bottoms are priced at $98 apiece. While Follow Suit's one-piece rings in at a respectable $270.
