There's some debate underway about which footwear styles will reign supreme this summer. Many are advocating for jelly sandals to earn the honor as they're becoming almost ubiquitous. (Thanks to Ashley and Mary-Kate Olsen reinvigorating the all but forgotten market for the see-through silhouettes.) We're firmly on team thong sandals, though. Why? Well, most of those PVC sandals are of the thong variety. Like Chloe's in-demand ankle-strap set. That's not the only material thongs are constructed from, however.
Flip flops are definitely the most stripped down, but they're far from basic. Bows, scarves, abstract accents and even beads make these pairs a step above their underwhelming counterparts. Wedges take the concept to a whole other level. See Alaïa's pale blue mules. Or opt for GIABORGHINI's bight white version. Meanwhile, Zara's "bluish" wedges look way more expensive than their $79.90 price tag.
