Fashion is ever evolving, and what's in trend today may likely be outdated before you can even say haute couture. But that's what makes it so fun! People gravitate toward fresher styles that aren't overdone. In 2025, we've seen several looks that are borderline fashion fails. Don't get too defensive if your favorites are here, but here are some trends that have maxed out their runway moment.

Trends Fading Out (or getting a break):

Minimalism Without Character

Minimalism has taken over the world over the last couple of years, and we're hoping it ends by 2025. The sterility of this color palette lacks creativity. Now, people are craving for more character and color. Truth be told, these plain ensembles were great until they lasted. Don't get us wrong; they're basics and are considered classics. But we should not be afraid to wear a little bit more color in 2026!

Excessive Cutouts

Let me hold your hand when I say this, but wearing a cutout top is so last year. Taking off that crisscross blouse will take a lot of your time, and we don't have that. Today, most women are going for stylish comfort, and cutout designs are anything but that.

Distressed Denim Styles

Denim is a wardrobe staple that will always be in style, as long as it's not the distressed kind. It appears messy and juvenile, so go for a more polished look, like dark denim with a straight cut to show off your frame instead.

Rigid Leather Pants

No one in their right mind would wear stiff leather trousers, yet here we are. Cheaply made bottoms can get quite uncomfortable. So, if you really want to wear leather pants, at least invest in the right kind to avoid any styling mishaps.

Bulky Footwear

Bulky is out, sleek footwear is in! Continue wearing your favorite chunky Mary Jane platforms at least until the end of the winter season, but once the last snow has fallen, it's time to say goodbye.

What's Taking Over (The New Vibe):

Effortless Comfort

We'd like to think that effortless comfort would continue to dominate trends in 2026. If you're considering doing a major closet overhaul, try selecting a piece that ticks all the right boxes. Picture this: if putting it on or taking it off takes too much time and resistance, then it's not effortless comfort at all.

Performance Fabrics and Sportswear

Technical materials and sporty outerwear are trending for both function and fashion. Smart textiles now have additional features, such as UV protection and cooling, that work best for those who lead an active lifestyle.

Y2K and Indie Sleaze Revival

This may come as a shock, but Y2K fashion is expected to make a major comeback in 2026 (Hello, low-rise jeans!). Gen Zs have been leaning more toward using what they consider "old tech" like digital cameras and flip phones, so we're not surprised to see they'll be wearing the fashion that comes with it.
