The holidays are a joyful and stressful time. Joyful due to families getting together and gifts being given. Stressful since families get together and gifts are given. It's an interesting dichotomy that leads many of us to love/loathe the holidays. So we decided to take one thing off of your sure-to-be-stuffed plate. Your hairstyles for all of the season's big events. Thankfully, recent runways are chock-full of holiday hair inspiration that'll work for any upcoming celebration.

Our guidelines? These hairdos need to be both functional and fabulous. To the first point, there's almost nothing worse during Thanksgiving dinner than having your loose locks sweep your plate while you're eating. Same goes for your Christmas or Hanukkah feast. While you could simply tie your hair back into a ponytail and be done with it, that's not exactly elevated. Especially if your clan or your friends tend to get dressed up for dinner.

We set our collective sights on hairstyles that make great impressions and are also relatively easy to accomplish. Because it's not like you have a glam team working backstage. From Ferragamo's sophisticated twist to Jean Paul Gaultier's haute half updo to the dynamic Dutch braids at Akris, these styles are sure to turn heads. There's even a simple and sleek option for those rocking short strands this season.

Keep reading to discover the best holiday hair inspiration recent runways have to offer. (Feel free to incorporate a little hair bling into the equation.) Select one for each holiday gathering you're slated to take part in for the rest of the year. You don't have to replicate the makeup looks that coincide with the 'dos. If you don't get through all of them, you can always save them for a future festive occasion.
