These Sun Hats Are Definitely Not for the Faint of Heart, Which Is Why We Love Them

Back in 2017 Jacquemus made fashion history by debuting its ginormous Le Grand Chapeau Bomba. The sun hat popped up in the brand's Spring 2018 collection leading to everyone from models to laypeople snapping it up to look cool while shading their faces on the sunniest of days. People though it was a fluke, but that extravagant chapeau has inspired all of the other fashion houses to think big. Now there's an impressive list of statement sun hats on the market.

Loro Piana leads the charge with a trio of look-at-me-and-not-the-ocean toppers. Its Adeline Hat reminds us of the stunning hat featured in Maxi Priest's music video for "Close to You" back in the 90s. Then there's the two-tone Elizabeth Hat and the perfectly perforated Nari Straw Sun Hat. Other high-end labels are also throwing their large hats into the ring. Gucci gives us a pair of silhouettes, including one jaunty straw hat. The other a logo scarf-decorated floppy take. Both Chloe and Etro also offer scarf-enhanced numbers. While Alaïa's Capeline Straw Cloche Hat partially impairs your vision. A small price to pay.

There are a handful of more affordable options, thank goodness. Zara's visor is wrapped up by a printed scarf. Over at & Other Stories you can score a wide-brimmed hat in a delightful pink hue.
